Teaching & Workshops
My goal is to inspire, enthuse and motivate anyone to express their creativity through photography, by helping them discover the innate talent they possess. It can be working one-to-one, or in small groups, locally or internationally.
I bring a wealth of experience to my teaching. I have looked at the world through a camera lens for over 25 years and it is this experience that gives me the understanding and empathy to help students – whatever their age or ability – get the greatest joy out of their photography.
I have taught photography for a wide range of colleges, institutions and charities, as well as one-to-one teaching.
I have taught on the island of Montserrat and in the townships of Soweto. In New York City, I ran photography workshops for the United Auto Workers and here in the UK I have taught at the London College of Communication (former LCP) for over 20 years, as well as at the University of Westminster, Sussex Coast College and the University of Brighton.
To show someone the innate talent they possess is one of life’s great rewards. The more I teach, the more I learn — about photography, about people, about places, about myself. I always feel that I get back much more than I’ve put in. That’s the great joy of teaching.
